Although human trafficking awareness month was in January, my schedule has been continuous. One of the most moving experiences was the invitation to return to my alma mater and address the students. It was incredible. We also had a huge event at Montclair State University featuring the attorney general, along with numerous law enforcement officials, legislators, and students.
I haven’t had an opportunity to keep up with my social media, but a lot of exciting things are happening. It is encouraging to see an increase in the number of people wanting to become educated on what they can do and how they can help. HT affects people of all ages and backgrounds, so continuing to bring education and awareness is very critical. I recently presented to over 1000 bankers on this issue. We have been training more faith based communities, which is encouraging. I have so much respect for the pastors who have been collaborating with us wanting to educate their congregations which is so important.
Recently, I had the profound honor of being asked to share my testimony in Washington DC, an experience that proved to be immensely impactful. With over 400 legislators present, I was given this opportunity to articulate my perspective and advocate for meaningful change. The significance of this moment was underscored by the passage of the Frederick Douglass bill, a legislative milestone that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact. It was a privilege to contribute to this pivotal moment in history, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have played a part in advancing such a crucial cause.
Lastly, I am still in disbelief that in less than 7 weeks, my book “A Survivor’s Secrets” will be officially launched!! I’ve been asked if I planned my launch party yet but I haven’t had a chance. However, moving forward I promise to keep you all posted with updates!
With deep gratitude, I attended my one-year follow-up appointment, where I underwent numerous tests, all of which yielded negative results! My doctor simply said, “See you in a year!” I am immensely thankful to God, as well as to my friends and family, for their unwavering prayers, love, support, encouragement, and assistance throughout this journey.
